Alexandra Macdonald has worked with Australian choreographers including Rosalind Crisp, Sandra Parker (DanceWorks), David Pledger (Not yet Its Difficult) and Ros Warby, and international artists including Hans Van Den Broek (Belgium) and Julyen Hamilton (Spain).
She has presented work at platforms including Antistatic (Sydney), Bodyworks (Melbourne), berlinXchange (Sydney), Generation (Melbourne), Rammatutti (Antwerp) and Les Crocodiles (Paris).
Since 2002 she has been the recipient of numerous grants (Australia Council for the Arts, Dancehouse, Ian Potter Cultural Trust, Besen Foundation, Bundanon Fellowship), the most recent being a professional development grant that enabled her to work with some of Europe’s foremost figures in improvisation.
Alexandra is a founding member of Underpass, a Melbourne based dance collective whose point of connection is the interplay between choreography and improvisation. Their work has been presented in Australia, France, Germany and Belgium.
She has taught for major contemporary dance companies and institutions in Australia including Chunky Move, DanceWorks, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre and has led classes and workshops in Belgium and the UK.
