NADIA SCHNOCK
BIO
Nadia Schnock was born in Belgium in 1973. She studied at the Académie Royale des beaux-arts between 1992 and 1994. In 2000 she did a performance The Apples, (RE)sort, BDC with Tom Plischke and le Bureau de réconfort in the scope of the project BDC/Tom Plische & Friends in the Beursschouwburg, Brussels. In 2002 she was in residence in Recyclart in Brussels and did several projects there: Project 1/, project 2/la peau. She also curated Ursulines 5. Schnock also designed the costumes for Lilia mestre’s Missing Link. In 2003 she curated the monthly exhibitions in the public space of Recyclart. In 2004 she worked on Dream Sessions in Beursschouwburg and on the installation Hitchcock est dans la cuisine in Vitrine-out/ Recyclart. She lives in Brussels.
“Mireilles” (period of residence 23-01-2012 // 28-01-2012)
est un croisement entre arts visuel et performance. C’est un projet sous la forme d’une comédie musicale qui rassemble une série de femmes clones ou sosies de Mireille Mathieu dans une suite de tableaux chantants: un peu comme une rencontre entre Jacques Demy et Vanessa Beecroft.
“GARY” (period of residence 18-11-2013 // 30-11-2013)
se situe au croisement entre arts visuels et performance.
Ce projet rend hommage au cinéma hollywoodien d’après guerre à travers une succession de tableaux faisant référence à des films. Le personnage central de cette fresque est un crooner hanté par ses fantômes. Accompagné de ses musiciennes, il évolue dans une production cinémascope ou se rencontrent Frank Sinatra, Hitchcock, ou encore David Vincent et les envahisseurs.
