BIO
Sofia Dias and Vítor Roriz are independent dancers and choreographers that collaborate since 2006 in various dance works, presented in Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany, Romania, Belgium, England and The Netherlands. They have been teaching many workshops (at C.e.m., Fórum Dança, Companhia Instável, Nomadic Modules/Alkantara) and they teach movement to the Theatre Course from ESAD – Caldas da Raínha. They are associate artists from Materiais Diversos and O Espaço do Tempo.
PROJECT
A GESTURE THAT IS NOTHING BUT A THREAT
As when we repeat a word until it loses its sense, in this work we’ll try to place ourselves in that moment of loss of significance and within that possibility of degeneration and transformation, other words emerge. In changing the usual logics on the use of words we can observe how our mind works – from the apparent chaos of sound textures there is always a way of finding a logic and a connection to something we recognize. In this way we free ourselves from semantic and syntax determinisms, we dissimulate the apparent hierarchy between word, voice, movement and gesture, aspiring to new constellations of meaning that reflect the complexity of human experience that, so naively, we tend to contain in controlled systems and models.
